Is Your Building Unboostable?

Tricky layouts, thick walls and remote locations? They can all ruin your reception. That’s exactly the kind of challenge we love solving! We've helped all sorts of places from historic venues to rural pubs, care homes and even police stations.

Here are some of our favourite success stories and real examples of how we’ve tackled tough environments and transformed them into fully connected spaces.

1. Historic Building: Aynhoe Park, Oxford

Project Snapshot:

  • Type: Large historic venue

  • Key Concern: Zero visual impact

  • Unique Feature: All equipment must be hidden

What Set This Project Apart:

Aynhoe Park’s thick stone walls and protected status meant that all of the installation had to be completely invisible. Our team worked closely with the estate’s management, using custom-painted antennas and carefully concealed cabling. Every decision was made with the building’s heritage in mind.

Our Solution:

To deliver strong, reliable mobile signal without compromising the building’s character, we designed a bespoke system using Nextivity CEL-FI technology.

  • Discreet external antennas were installed and spray-painted to match the building’s stonework, blending seamlessly with the exterior.

  • Internal boosters and cabling were positioned out of sight, routed through existing voids and hidden spaces to ensure nothing was visible to guests or staff.

  • Every piece of equipment was selected for its performance and low profile, and the installation was carried out with meticulous care to avoid any disturbance to the historic fabric of the building.

Result:

  • The venue now enjoys robust, reliable mobile coverage throughout, with no compromise to its historic character. Guests and staff benefit from seamless connectivity, while the building’s unique aesthetic remains untouched.

2. Rural Location: Double Locks Inn, Exeter

Nestled in a remote riverside spot, the Double Locks Inn had a picturesque setting but practically no mobile signal. Staff were dealing with constant signal dropouts, which impacted everything from table bookings to customer service.

Young & Co Brewery came to us for some help and after a thorough site survey, we suggested the best option and also figured out the correct placement for external antennas to capture the strongest possible signal.

We then installed the complete system tailored for rural environments, including the the usual Nextivity CEL-FI kit. All of this technology is now working together to deliver consistent coverage throughout the pub.

Your Pub Could Be The Same!

The signal is now solid across the entire pub, reaching both staff areas and customer-facing spaces with ease. For customers that means they can actually use their devices whether they’re ordering drinks from the bar, posting photos or just trying to stay connected. Business operations are smoother and staff no longer have to battle frustrating 'dead zones'.

3. Large Commercial Space: Humberside Police Station

Humberside Police wanted us to fit a mobile signal booster set up in their large, multi-floor building with thick internal walls ... so already a tough brief!

On top of that, it was a live police station meaning our team needed to be escorted at all times. As a live police station, we had to work around tight access requirements, ensuring every step of the install was closely managed and meticulously executed.

What Solution We Recommended:

We installed a carefully planned signal boosting solution perfect for their building. It included a QUATRA 4000e system which included:

  • 2 network units

  • 9 coverage units

  • 47 internal antennas

  • 8 external antennas

The system was built using advanced digital technology to support high call volumes and multiple users at once.

Outcome and Testimonial:

Staff across all departments now benefit from reliable mobile signal, making internal communication more efficient and dependable throughout the station. Staff immediately noticed the improvement: full bars, clearer calls and no more 'dead zones'.

The project manager at Humberside Police said, "We were experiencing poor signals, dropped calls and no data signal. Our staff have seen an instant and dramatic improvement... almost as soon as the new system was turned on."

We also received great feedback on our team: "They stayed late and gave our project priority. The team came across as very professional and made sure they communicated with us throughout."

4. Healthcare Facility: Hammerson House Private Care Home

Does Your Care Home Suffer With This?

Care homes depend on steady, uninterrupted communication but the layout of Hammerson House and its maze of rooms and corridors, created patchy mobile coverage in all the important areas.

For various reasons, this project required an analogue system which meant significantly more equipment and cabling than a standard setup. As a secure facility with vulnerable residents, it was crucial for us to carry out the work with care maintaining minimal disruption and a subtle presence throughout.

Our CEL-FI Approach

We designed a custom solution for Hammerson House strategically placing our Nextivity CEL-FI technology. This included 16 external antennas on the roof and 32 CEL-FI GO X boosters, along side a series of internal antennas. All the equipment was low-profile and blended seamlessly into the care home’s interior.

Now...

Mobile signal has improved significantly throughout the care home! Staff can communicate without interruption and visitors can stay connected with loved ones. Better communication means better care and with faster, clearer contact between staff. More importantly, it also contributes to a safer environment for everyone in the building.

5. Retail: Harvey Norman, Belfast

A couple obstacles we had were:

  • Retail buildings often pose a signal challenge due to a lot of their structure being built out of metal cladding or thick brick walls.

  • This particular project was located in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which added an extra layer of complexity in terms of logistics and planning.

  • We also had to work within tight store opening hours and carefully coordinate multiple engineers and equipment to get everything in place without disrupting the store’s operations.

However...

We began with a free solution design and quote to understand the signal landscape and scope of the project. This solution design includes a free, no-obligation plan showing what the signal set up will look like and a quote tailored specifically to your building - Request A Free Solution Design Here. Our design team recommended the Amplifi-Qx Digital signal system using the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000e.

The installation included:

  • 1 Network Unit

  • 6 Coverage Units

  • 21 Internal Antennas

  • External Antennas

The difference was immediate! Customers and staff now enjoy clearer calls which is crucial for day-to-day business in retail. For a retail store, that means better communication between staff, faster service at the tills and customers who can access apps, payment platforms and support without frustration. All of this adds up to a more seamless shopping experience and a stronger reputation for the store.
